    15" or 18" XXX?

I searched, but I'd like to know if I might be able to get by with an 18" RE XXX in my spl setup.

I have a hatchback 2 seater, so not a lot of room. I'm going with a two amp single sub setup. I measured today and found that a good size box for me would have to be slanted (approx. 26"w/25"d/19"front/12"rear) and could only provide a little more than 4 cubes, would be ported. Dimensions could vary slightly. I don't know much about the porting I need, but I know the sub will have all the power it can handle and then some.

Could I make an 18" XXX get louder than a 15" XXX in this big of a box, or is the box too small? Also is my slanted box shape going to affect it's capability at all? I want the most spl I can get from the setup. Thanks.

box isnt big enough for an 18, i think the 18 need something like 7cubes. in this case the 15" would suit u well with thoughs box limitations.

Can anyone suggest how I should have the port designed on the box for a 15"?

Re: 15" or 18" XXX? Or another sub?

You know I was looking, and Massive Audio's new DMX Stage 2 (massiveaudio.com) subs are bad ***. Rated at 3000 watts rms, they look mean. I wonder if one of these might do the trick better than a XXX, as I have roughly 4000 watts and this is rated closer to my power level.

    What do you guys think?

Or should I just push the 4000w upon the XXX to see how long it can survive?

    Re: 15" or 18" XXX?

Well I have two Massive CA200's (2000w@2ohm) I'd be using, so I would just have my gain turned down a on an XXX. But with the DMX Stage 2 I could give it all the power.

Do you think I should find a different sub than the XXX?

Also, remember that I am using a slanted box, will it hurt the port design having the port start smaller in the rear and get bigger towards the front? Could I have a smaller port on each side, as oppose to on one side? I'm asking this because on the face I have roughly 26 inches of width to use, and only about 18 of height, so it would just look better to have the sub centered between two I guess.
