Perhaps it's just me, but every W7 install I have ever heard (all sealed) have sounded terrible. To me the bass doesn't feel warm at all. It's always like a thudding, rather than like the bass from say my e10a or Brahma. I know the size of the woofer doesn't matter because I've heard the 10, an even the "h.o" 12 installed.
What could be the problem? In all of these cases the amp settings are set properly, and matched up with proper wiring/power. In my car I did not have an accurate front stage, which may have made the transition sound even worse (case in point sealed 12w7 in a 1.375 ft^3 box). Were our units simply defective or is this how the music is suppossed to sound? Don't get me wrong--I know what bass sounds like--I had **** accurate sound from all my previous setups, but the W7 sounded like ****. So much so that I got rid of it right after the first week of installing.
As some of you know I was going to go with the10w7 in my 350z..with it being a hatchback I'm not certain if this is the best choice b/c if it will thud or what not. I decided to do a little research, and it seems like the w7 series only places a short range of frequencies..could this be the reason that even a slight variation of settings could change the sound so dramatically?
Looking for a real answer---
edit: just wanted to add that I know this is suppossed to be the ultimate sq woofer..which is why I am wanting to know whats wrong..maybe it is just me, but so far in my experience xbl^2 owns the w7. I am sure it can sound right, I'm just hoping someone can show me how so I can be blown away too.
