    Icon33 XXX Question (WATTS)

Hey guys I need a fast reply! I am ordering my XXX and Orion 2500d in a couple days. But I need to know if the XXX can actually take the 2500 for DAILY DRIVING? It is going to be put into a 3.5 cuft tuned to 30hz heavily braced put into the back of a 02 monte carlo ss. Some people say that it can some say that it cant. Whats the real answer?? Is it all in the gains?? Help me please!

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

First off, that Orion amp is overkill for daily driving with an XXX. Second, you better have a plan on how to supply power for an amp like that. Maybe you already have it set up, I don't know. You could get one of those Hifonics 1500 amps, lots of people have those with XXX's.

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

What size woofer are we talking?

The size has nothing to do with the power, just the box size I'm questioning.

It'll take it fine, just be smart with the gains. Also consider that impedance spikes will make sure that amp doesn't push full power all that often...

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

Impedance spikes and your pain threshold. The sub will do fine, as you won't be running much power to it regularly with music. On the order of a couple hundred watts probably. The volume control will keep you from doing damage.

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

Yeah, what size of woofer are we talking about here. ****, I got a DEI 2400d amp on my RE XXX 18 Quad 1.4 @ 2-ohm daily and it's taking every bit and I have an Epicenter on it! The SQ is amazing and we won't even discuss the SPL.
Anyway, if this XXX is anything less than an 18, I would go with a pair of XXX's with that power.

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

I was thinking of getting the 15 but i'm not sure if I can fit a 18 in the trunk of a 01 monte carlo ss. I also doubt 3.5cuft is big enough box space either. Anyone have any suggestions or know that it is possible to fit a 18 in there?? And how big would the box be cuft wise for a 18??? considering I was going to put the 15 in 3.5 tuned to 30 for that ****in triple six mafia looooooow bass! I want the real low bass to hit you kno. Help me out please!!!

*edit* Yea I got the electrical worked out 200amp alt and a yellow top.

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

Do I have to say this again? You don't want/need 2500w on an XXX for daily driving. Save yourself $500 and just get a more sensible amp. OR, use that money you save for another XXX and amp. A pair of 12's with 1500w each would be much louder than a single 15 with 2500 un-needed watts. Think about it, giving a driver 900w over its rms. You probably won't even be running it all the way, so it would end up being a waste. Great amp, yes, do you need it, no!

    Re: XXX Question (WATTS)

Your right, two 12's will b louder, is the bx1500 strapable? I mean able to hook up to each other?? If not how would I hook both amps up plus a amp for my components to my 9815??, and also dosent the 15's hit lower than 12's????? Thats what I heard...and I listen to rap, mostly down south like three 6 mafia, ugk, gangsta blac, gangsta pat that has a lot of deep low bass lines in their songs.
