    8" RF Punch HX2 vs. 8" Kicker Solobaric L5

My next project will probably be dealing with a pair of 8" subs. I wanna see what I can get them to sound like. I have a few questions concerning this, one is, which of these two subs do you think could get louder? I'm leaning towards the L5's, just due to cone area. The L5's would have 128sq.in. of cone area, compared to the HX2's 100.48sq.in. Anyways, another question, I'm obviously going with a ported box. I'm wondering, what do you guys think I should tune it at? I know if it was going for all SPL I would want it tuned fairly high, but I actually think that I want it tuned very low. I'd like it to get very deep and fool people, maybe have them think I have a 12" or even 15". A regular round 12" has about 110sq.in. of cone area, so I could get a pair of L5's and have it sound like a 12 or something. What do you guys think? I'm open to suggestions, probably won't start this project for a couple weeks.

I know what you mean Exploder...the HX2's would probably move alot more than the Kickers would, so maybe they would be a better choice. I'm not sure...anyone else want to chime in?

some eD big 8's if you can find one..

I'm really not that sure about the punch/L5 series.. but i'd bet how loud they are going to be is going to be dependent on how good the install is. I'd give the edge to the L5 because of more displacement.. but you never know.

L5s in my opinion, potent little buggers. The prefab boxes they have for them in a Visions here makes them just hammer. No idea on tuning or anything but very impressive for 1 8".

    I have a single ported L78", with 400 watts...perfect!

The L5 is just like the first generation L7's........
