I'm wondering which would be louder, two kappa perfect 12.1s in a sealed box or one 10w7 in a sealed box.
I'm also wondering which would sound better.
Regardless of the sub I buy the amp I'm going to buy is a JL Audio 500.1.

I would save the money and get the Infinity's. I heard 2 10" of those with JBL 1200.1 on it and it kicked ***. I also just purchased 2 12's myself.
Money isn't an issue. I plan on spending $1000 for the system, and I need it to be as small as possible.
Plus I've never built a box before so I would imagine buildling one for a 10w7 would be easier than building one for two 12.1s.
That's a dumb question.....2 Perfects hands down. I got a bud who ****s up car alarms with 2 of these a a tiny *** sealed truck box, can a single 10W7 pull that off....doubt it.

(Obviously didn't find what he was looking for although funny as hell)
Does anyone have any numbers to back up these claims? Setting off car alarms doesn't really appeal to me. And yeah, I've heard that a 10w7 was as loud as two good 12"s from numerous people.
Edit- I also heard that the 10w7 was insanely good on the low end frequencies, something that I'm also very concerned about.

And no its not a dumb question.... The perfects may have the W7 in SPL since its 2 12"s V 1 10" but the W7 will kill them in SQ...
who cares about setting off car alarms, i'd rather have a 10w7 than 2x infinitys, i've had friends blow infinity's basically no power.Originally Posted by AsK 5109
I would get the 10w7, but i would rather get a 12w7 if funds would allow..![]()
Why not get a 12" W7 and a bigger amp to push it... a JBL 1200.0 or JL 1000.1 would work fine. If not I would still take the 10" W7 over the Infinitys, the only thing is with either sub you get you'll be lacking power for it/them.
I would get the Infinity Kappa Perfects. Both Subs you mention are great sq subs, and you mention that you want great low end, which is exactly what the perfects provide. They are rated down to 18hz . Ive heard them and they sound awesome.
I would, but funds don't allow -- however I might upgrade to 2 10w7s and a JL 1000.1 somewhere in the future if I don't feel that one is enough. Why not get a 12" W7 and a bigger amp to push it... a JBL 1200.0 or JL 1000.1 would work fine.
I listened to a 10w7 today at Ovation. They had one hooked up to a JL 1000.1 and in the stock JL made (red faced) box. I was VERY impressed with it and ordered one already.
I'm just a bit concerned that it will sound as good in my car in a smaller sealed box as it did in that room, but from what I've read on this thread I think it will.
