Icon12 What amp would you recommend for 2 Rockford Fosgate P2D2-12 12" Subs

    Hello everyone.

So I've been told that many amps are rated much much higher than what they are actually capable of and I need a new amp to power these subs.

They are 2 Rockford Fosgate P2D2-12 12" Subs with a combined MAX power of 1600 Watts.

I was considering the BOSS Audio DST2500D DISRUPT 2500 Watt amp, but as I said I don't know if I can trust that it will be able to power these subs.

Here's the page with specs for the amp.
    (DST2500D | Boss Audio Systems)

    Thanks.

I wouldn't ever buy ANYTHING Made by Boss. Their specs are just laughable. C'mon, do you really think that thing puts out the CLAIMED 1500 watts RMS at four ohms, with only a 0.01% THD? Honestly that amp probably can't put out any more than 4-500 (At best) at two ohms. With your speakers you need an amp that will put out about 800 watts RMS at two ohms. What kind of budget are you working with for an amp?

    Head Unit - Kenwood DDX419
Front Stage - Kicker ZX200.2 to Infinity CS60.9
    Substage - Sundown SAZ1500D @ 1 Ohm to SSA XCON 15
Enough Knu 0 Gauge to go around

If you are looking for decent budget amps I would go with this Pure Audio PA-1500.1D - Xplicit Audio

I don't really want to spend over $200 for the amp. I'm getting the speakers for pretty cheap too.

Re: What amp would you recommend for 2 Rockford Fosgate P2D2-12 12" Subs

As already stated once... Stay away from Boss. You should also learn to ignore the max ratings on subwoofers or amps. Also look at the rms/nominal ratings. The p2d2's have an rms of 400 each, so you're looking at a total of 800rms. I would recommend this amp: Precision Power PPI P1000.1 (p10001) Monoblock Phantom Car Amplifier and wiring it at 2ohms. The above Pure Audio amp also looks like it would work pretty nice as well.

    Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-3600ui
Mids and Highs: (2) SoundQubed QP-MR6.5's (4) SoundQubed QP-TH25 "Super Tweeters"
    4-channel Amp: Infinity Reference 475a
    Subwoofers: Three SoundQubed HDS200 15's walled off at 10^ft @ 32hz
    Monoblock Amp: Sundown Audio SAZ-2500d
    Wires: All 1/0 gauge KnuKonceptz
    Car: 2004 Honda Civic SI

150's+ on music with $90 subs ftw!

I'll look at this one too. Just briefly, what does wiring at 2 ohms entail?

For your subs, series wiring. This is what it should be wired like. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...2-ohm_mono.jpg

Well now I'm actually thinking about getting the P3D2-12 subs (instead of P2D2-12). That's a much better upgrade BUT.... now I need a better amp.

you also need to realize your going to be pushing 1200 watts so i hope you have a somewhat beefy either stock electrical or plan on putting an agm or h.o alternator in your car as well. i know alot of people will say thats overkill but they can go f themselves. to be honest i would never run 1000w without at least a 140a alternator and an agm battery. i dont like my voltage going into the 12's at all. what kind of car do you have?

what kind of impedence does yours subs have? dvc 4 ohm?

I have a '99 Nissan Altima right now with a regular battery and alternator. I wasn't sure if I'd need to upgrade the alternator in this case.
The impedence of those subs is 2 ohms.

Also I'm not really sure what a 140a alternator or agm battery are. Will they cost just as much as the subs and amp?
