    Alpine Type R box

Seeking guidance on the box. This will be a 10" with about 800RMS. Due to space limitations, how would this work in a sealed box(.9')? I've heard that sealed is best and I've heard ported is best. What say you?

    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Re: Alpine Type R box

For a Type R I'd definitely run it ported. I'd give a 10" about 1.5^3 tuned around 32-36. They're ok sealed but you're not going to see the output you would running it ported.

    Re: Alpine Type R box

I've heard 2 in a Chevy Malibu sealed and dude was metering at 142 or something like that off 1K. For sealed in that car it was loud. Honestly best I've heard from Alpine.

Current set up: 2010 Buick Enclave, 2 12" MMATS PROCASTS 2.5@35, MMATS D200HC
Hertz 165XL comps in front door, Alpine 1507 bridged
Pioneer Z150bt Nav, Audio Technix all around.

66 Pontiac GTO, modified stock radio, Crossfire CFA 302, Kicker KS6.2's in the front kicks, Crossfire CFA 452 for the 6x9's I need.

    Re: Alpine Type R box

    This makes me curious...

I've got two Alpine Type R 8's in my SRT4 Neon...

They just don't seem that loud... they are in small 0.30ft^3 boxes. I believe they should probably be in ported boxes? Suggestions?

Bigger box if you are going sealed. He had them in I believe 1^3 each.

142 ported is a lot easier to take in then sealed but i guess he must have done an excellent job of deadening and had one efficient as hell amp, would love to hear that setup.

i had a single type R ported that metered at 141 db playing music. won a bassrace with that sub. not many subs in that price range that are better than a type R. 2.2 @ 35 hz is what i had mine in.
