Why does 2 subs sound bad and 1 good? Plz help me :)

I'm having a problem with my setup.

    I have 2 RE HC 15's and a Memphis Mojo 2000.

Each HC 15 is in it's own chamber and the VC's are wired in parallel to 1 ohm. I then have 1 speaker wire running out of each chamber, so a 1 ohm load per speaker wire.

Since the mojo is designed for 2 ohms, I then run that in series, so I connect one Pos to the other Neg, and then have the other Pos to the amp and the other Neg to the amp.

When this happens, I can see the woofers moving, but there doesn't seem to be good SQ at all and I can bairly hear them at all.

I tried each woofer, alone, and each one sounds great. But together they sound crappy.

I am guessing there is some sort of cancellation or something? I am 99.9% sure I wired the subs correctly though...............

If I don't have to, I don't want to take the subs out of the boxes, because MDF doesn't really tend to like speakers goign in and out.

    Any ideas??

Maybe I can just run the on sub as if the Pos is really the neg and vice versa? If the sub is in phase, and I run it like it's out of phase, will I break something?

    Thanks a lot everyone,
    Craig G

when you tried each woofer alone? did you use the same box?

i am not sure bout the specs for that amp but it should be enough to push two hcs, can't think of much stuff, i 'll prob say check the wiring and maybe make sure the box was sealed correctly or something.

hopefully someone has a more specific answer.

Cancellation wouldn't be that obvious unless just because of the distance that the subs are set up, the sound waves line up the worst way, maybe try like putting one on a slight angle or something, you might pull off the oposite and get total gain, where the subs fully combine power, i dunno, just fiddle, maybe move your box in your trunk, because it might be the inner shape
    Good luck with that

I don't know if this was a bad idea, but I just pretened that one speaker was out of phase, treated it's pos as a neg, and it's neg as a pos. Wired the 2 speakers in series to get 2 ohms and **** it's loud and sounds great!!!

I hope that wasn't a bad idea ?? But since it's pounding hard I figure it can't be all that bad

    Thanks,

you probably just had the wires switched in the first place.

Yep, you definitely wired the two subs out of phase in the beginning. An easily correctable mistake, though.
