Have to talk to someone like @Buck ; and see what you two can cook up together. My experience with TLs is extremely limited and don't work optimally for every vehicle and, sometimes, it's better that a 4th, 6th, or standard ported enclosure will work better in terms of response.

    Re: SQ subwoofer help!

Here's some reading material along with plenty of photos: t line sub box 1/4 wave for xfl 1222 - Car Audio | DiyMobileAudio.com | Car Stereo Forum
The guy with the photos has built a number of 1/4 wave transmission line enclosures, and there's one for a single 12" that looks like it would take all available space in the car it was built for(Ford Focus). You can't think of a "t-line" like any other kind of enclosure. As it says in the thread, it's not the volume that matters, it's the length of the transmission line and the taper. My 2 cents, don't focus on the design of the enclosure. Focus on the outcome and what works in the space you want to give up.

Okay if it was between a Alpine type r or Dayton audio ho which would you choose? T-line box... With the amp I have the type r would be at 1000wrms @ 1 ohm but with a single Dayton I would be over powering the sub by a long shot

    Re: SQ subwoofer help!

What is the Dayton rated at? I think either way you'll have a great SQ sub, you can set the amp gain to a precise wattage with a DMM.

The Dayton, hands down. Unless your concern is resale value. Are we talking about the new 1K RMS Type R or the older model? I've heard SQ got better with the new run. Even so, if it were me, I'd still do the Dayton.

Yes the new type r... I feel like the type r gets louder but the Dayton has a slight better sound quality

Type R and sound quality shouldn't even be in the same sentence...Dayton will have them beat in every aspect of SQ.

Also I'm wondering why everyone recommends the HO (High Output) version and not the HF (High Fidelity) version if he's looking for quality (aka fidelity).

I just think the bum deal with the Alpine is the size of its coil. They're charging more than they should for it, IMO.

You know you could always save up for a little bit longer since you have a LOT of really good options available to you for close to or just over 300. I would take a serious look at the SSA GCON (or even ICON), DC Audio Level 3, Obsidian, Sundown X, and Tantric HD to give you an idea of what a little more saving can get you. All of those options will be a good deal more in terms of output, especially with the power that you have available. Doesn't hurt to keep your eyes on the classifieds.

Because of the enclosure size that the HF requires. It's really not suited well for car audio use. But that's just my two cents.

What about a 13w6 for extra saving?

Meh. They're definitely geared towards SQ, but I have walked away impressed from VERY few W6 setups.

    Re: SQ subwoofer help!

Here are two fifteens in a t-line:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN-s4efefZo

The box is ~16 cubes, which is enough for 4 15s but, these things are on two 1400 watt amps and only two batteries in this video. And the beauty is that I can throw some jazz or metal on and I get super clean and tight upper sub bass response.

So don't discount one 10 until you've heard one 10 do some work in a t-line. Like this JBL budget sub:

Funny...I thought this was how about 40% of CA already acted. I have a good idea of a few of the guys you're referring to, though.

At this point, the first question I ask is:

    1. If the sub I'm looking at will work in my existing enclosure.

    2. If not, then I move on to what type and size my prospective sub responds best to as well as whether or not it will be happy on whatever power I have to feed it.

    3. Then, if I can realize I'm daydreaming and there's no way in hell my plan is going to work, I bail.

Don't be stupid like me and try to neglect step 1. At least I was lucky enough to end up with a slightly oversized enclosure rather than an undersized one and just had to deal with boomy bass. I've since ordered a new enclosure to be built for my Level 2 and the current one will make a 10" ICON more than happy on 1K.

From my perspective, I always look at what airspace I have before I do anything, then break it down and mix subs with power in my available airspace and bam! It sounds good.
