    Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

I just got my Brahma installed. Its in a 3.3 cubed box tuned to 32hz.I have my gains on my JBL 1200.1 turned up half way. When I turn my HU like around 20 or so my sub still hits but there is a popping/clicking noise with it.Its was very scary. What is this noise? It can be normal.

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

turn your head unit to normal listening levels (pretty sure) and adjust your gain from 0 to whenever distortion is minimally apparent and then back off a little bit......someone correct me if this is not the problem he is having

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

you need to make sure you have a subsonic filter that filter out everything below 25 hz. if your really pounding it and it hits a 20 hz. note your sub can flutter and thats not a good thing.

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

#1. The BP1200.1 has no subsonic filter
#2. The BP1200.1 is optimized for a 2ohm load but is 1 ohm stable. Under 1 ohm is not recommended

I think you should research stuff before trying it. You said you wired it for a for ohm load but it gives u a 2.6 ohm load...NO. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the brahma is really a dual 2 ohm? So then u could run it at a 1ohm load (parallel) or 4 ohm load (series). But if it is really a dual 1.3ohm then if sum1 told u to run it at 2.6ohms which would be series then why would you run it at .65 ohms which would be parallel. Basically I think the clicking sound is coming from the amp. I own the BP1200.1 and when I tried to turn up the gain on a sub that I didn't know was blown, it made a clicking sound, so in your case I would say the amp is clicking because it is not stable for .65 ohms

Thats exaclt what i am saying its not stable at that many ohms.So what exactl should I do run it @ 4 ohms? That would be weak.

It wouldn't, at all. I had the exact same setup. When I got my Brahma back from a recone, I threw it in a ported box, put 600w to it.. and let it pound for a minute. You do not need 1200w for a Brahma, in a ported box of that size. You're reaching full excursion easily with 600w, all you're doing is consistently maxing it out. XBL2 let's you push it to it's max, but once it's pushed over the driver will fail. Do me a favor, email Chris at Adire and ask him what he thinks about your setup.

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

Its just the fact that i have heard of people putting 1500 watts to their Brahma daily. or even 2200 watts. Why cant I use all 1200 watts of goodness. So wiring it @ 4ohms would be 600 watts? And that would out pount my RE SE 15 @ 1 ohm? And even sound better.

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

Yes, you'll get better output than an SE.

I'm only guessing, but an SE's xmax is probably somewhere around 21mm? Brahma's is 29mm. So, if you're going strictly by xmax.. Brahma is going to push a bit more air, and probably going to have a lot better sound (I've never heard an SE, so I'm assuming). It takes 5 minutes to wire it in series.. just try it, and see what you think. You'll be pleasantly surprised with how hard 600 watts will go in that enclosure. Play with the gain a little bit, you can probably match the input instead of keeping it lower than it needs to be, like it probably would at 1200w.

I'm saying this through experience, I've blown the sub myself.

is it a newer Brhama, because I know the older ones used to suffer from tinseld lead slap, or the tinsel wires hitting the cone during excursion...

    Re: Brahma 15 Popping Clicking

It sounds like everyone here agrees with what I posted on your thread on Sound Domain. You are probably clipping the signal, and need to turn the gain down. Especially with that size enclosure and without a subsonic filter.

What's better, having the sub reach a certain volume level with 800 watts, or 1600 watts? You have a very large enclosure, so your system is very efficient. You don't need that much power. Don't worry about the ratings of the subs and amps, but worry about how it sounds. After all, do you think 130 dB's sounds better with 1500 watts than with 800 watts?
