help me pick subs for a 1500 watt amp

my current setup is a jbl 1200.1 watt amp


and i've been thinking of getting another jbl, so a total of 2 and 2 brahmas to go with that.

But this setup will be quite expensive for my budget

so if I was to sell my jbl, and get like a 1500+ watt amp
what would be 2 descent subs to go with that


so basically what is a nice setup that fits between the 2 mentioned above. Because to tell you the truth. I don't think that I would even need 2 jbl 1200.1 and 2 brahmas (it would be nice, but most of the time I wouldn't listen that loud anyways, because I couldn't handle it.


but I do want someting louder than my 2 perfects and jbl amp, so can someobody suggest some setups that would be in between these.


I'm pretty confident that if I go with a 1500 watt amp I could go without an alot and battery upgrade

but with 2 jbls, I would need upgrades their costing me only more money



so amp, would need to be less than $500, and subs approximately $200-250
so that would be $1000

instead of 2 jbls 2 brahams, and possibly and new alt (550, 730, 200?, so about 1500)

keep the jbl and get 2 idmax's they idmax loves sealed so the sub sonic filter isnt a huge biggy from a damage stand point and that is enough juice to enjoy them..trust me sealed box solobarics would give more output too unless you have a crazy ported box for the perfects...not a noticeable diff between 1200 and 1500 watts anyway only a 3 db diff between 1000 watts to 2000 watts and 3 db is noticeable but it isnt a doubling in volume 10 db is

so let me get this strait

2 12" perfect subs with a jbl 1200.1 would be about twice as loud as

2 12" perfect subs wiht about 150 watts total (75 to each)



150X2 = 300, 300X2 = 600, 600X2 = 1200
?db + 3 + 3 + 3 (that would get me double the volume

or just getting 2 more subs, and giving them each 300 should be lots louder than 2 with 600 each


so really 4 perfects on the jbl 1200.1 would be lots louder (well according to the double the power gets you 3 more db


so really when I get this idea in my head, I'm getting messed up
I look at a jbl 600.1 amp and say, well its just a little more for the 1200.1 (and its twice the watts), but that won't come close to twice the volume

yup also doubling cone displacement with same power= 3db increase 4 subs at 1000 watts would be about 3 db louder than a pair of the same woofers with 1000watts...power costs alot of money as there is no substitute for it but that is also why you see some really crazy installs with 2 inch lexan windshields and 7 cft boxes with huge ports for 1 speaker to gain as much as they can where they can...you see a kid with a box in his trunk and a 2000 watt amp and everything else looks stock....if he claims some rediculous spl level you can pretty much guarantee his is lying out his ears to you 155db + spl level are very hard to achieve
