i ran a 5k on 2 eclipse TI's and they definitely got stinky if I played music for more than a few minutes. I'd say they are rated pretty well for "RMS" but they can definitely take more for short periods of time.

I paid $500 a piece for mine, I got a "deal", I think retail was closer to $600 or $750 if I remember right. The pro's were over a grand.
