10" Sound Quality Sub, and enclosure firing direction suggestions needed.

I'm trying to complete my SQ system with a good 10" sub-woofer and Amp set up and need some input. I'm just after good sound quality no real big thumping Bass here.
I have Rockford Fosgate T2652-s components, tweeters in the dash, and 6.5's in the door. Driven by Precision Power P900.4 amp with a Pioneer DEH-80PRS Head Unit.

So i have 3 questions, if you can help with any of them it would be appreciated,

    (1) 10" Sub Choice? This is where i really need help! (i'd rather not spend over $140 for a sub)
I guess i need a 4 Ohm sub, Single voice coil, If i go with the PPI P600-2 amp.
I have seen Dayton Sub's come with high recommendations. So is the Dayton Audio DCS255-4 A good choice or should i consider a different one. or brand???
    Shop Subwoofers from Dayton Audio (301 | 14) - 497|3923

    (2) Seal Sub box, Should i have the speaker fire downward or forwards.
(The one single 10 "sub is going between the front seats of a Odyssey mini-van, it's a two seater, the back is work equipment only.)

    (3) Amp choice? i need small in size (less than 8"-9" square) under $150.
My current 1st consideration is the Precision Power PPI P600-2, @$130.
This looks like a good choice for me but i'm open for suggestions? PrecisionPower - Products - Amplifiers - Phantom - P600.2

$300 for the Amp and Sub is it. I still will have to build the box, and like i say i really don't play my sub very loudly so it partly about what i can afford and what will fit.

You should buy my Stereo Integrity SI BM 10" or my pair of Adire Audio Koda 8" XBL^2 subs. You will not find a better sounding subs for the price.

Go with the Dayton HO 10", and that PPI should power it nicely, sure there's better out there, but not new for that amount of money.

i have an elemental designs 10 inch sub. same as this one here 2 flat cone Elemental Designs e10O.44

i have it in 1 cube sealed and gets loud and low great SQ. i also have an amp. its a infinity 1600a in like new shape with bass knob seen here. FS/FT infinity matching amp mono 4ch

plus if you wanted a matching 4ch i have that in that add above if needed.

i could do both sub and sub amp for 300 plus actual shipping.

or both amps and sub for 400 shipped?

Re: 10" Sound Quality Sub, and enclosure firing direction suggestions needed.

As far as Dayton subs go, the HO, HF, and Titanic have very good reputation. However, if I was buying a new 10 inch subwoofer for sealed box application, I'd consider being a guinea pig and picked the new Dayton Ultimax 10 2ohm DVC subwoofer.

(Dayton Audio UM10-22 10" Ultimax DVC Subwoofer 2 ohm Per Coi 295-510)

The specs look interesting. 0.67cu ft sealed box gives you a perfect qtc alignment with 45Hz F3. Normally, I'd expect 45Hz F3 in a sealed box from a 12 inch sub, so this one seems better than average 10 inch sub in this respect (including Dayton's HO10). 19mm xmax is also very impressive. There is more linear stroke than in any previous Dayton subwoofer (and most other subs on the market for this price).

PPI P600.2 is a fantastic little amp for a subwoofer duty (as well as its Soundstream TN2.600D copy). You get honest 600watts RMS, good efficiency and tiny size (6.5x6.5 inches) for under $150. I can't think of a better value for a 600watt amp right now. I went with P900.4 originally when I needed a sub and rear speaker amp. If I knew in advance that I don't need rear speakers, I might have bought the P600.

So i would wire this one in parallel to get 4 ohms because it has 2 voice coils???
    (edit. correction, series)

Re: 10" Sound Quality Sub, and enclosure firing direction suggestions needed.

Wiring it in parallel will result in a 2-ohm load and IIRC, that sub isn't stable bridged at 2 ohms, so it's better for you to either find a svc 4 ohm sub or a dvc 2-ohm for that ppi

You could go with a SSA dcon or ID10 2-ohm.

Disregard, just noticed that Dayton is a 2ohm dvc...so to answer your question, yes

It's a DVC 2ohm subwoofer. Wiring in parallel gives you 1ohm nominal. Wiring in series gives you 4ohm nominal.

Re: 10" Sound Quality Sub, and enclosure firing direction suggestions needed.

So Availablity is an issue with these subs.

SSA dcon --Build time 21 Business days. That's a month even without holidays, wow I don't no if i am that patient. But wow a solid reputation and great fit for my amp and price! (Are these really made in the USA, for each order?) People actualy wait that long for a order.

Dayton Audio UM10-22 10" Ultimax DVC Subwoofer 2 ohm Per Coil -- aren't available until the 27th (10 days away, not to bad)
Looking at their photo, at rest it looks like the rubber surround extends out 1"+ beyond the mounting frame. The "Over 1-1/2" of travel" mean they will extend out another .75" beyond there At rest placement? If so in a fire downward box the box would have to be 3" + off the floor!! Im I correct??? if so, this may not be a good choice and i should rule this out?. Everything else about it looks awesome.

Image Dynamics ID10 D2 V.3 (i think these are what Noe_style was recommending) are available and do fit the needs. They seem to have good reviews, They look a little strange kind of cheap to me (it probably just the photo). but i see some real good reviews.

Dayton Audio RSS265HO-4 , Looks good also. maybe on the high side for the amp with it lower sensitivity, and higher watt rating

Should i rule out the Dayton Audio UM10-22 10" Ultimax for my downward firing box ?

Looking at some videos i notice all of these play a LOT louder than i will ever play my music!

A least the PPI 600.2 for my amp is a done deal.
