Loudest (Inexpensive) 10" Sub (plus amp)

After blowing my cheapo 10" subs and trashing the ghetto Legacy amp on my golfcart (that's right, sorry, I know it's not "cart" audio but I thought you'd think this was rather interesting anyway), I am wanting a new system. I want 2 10" subs that will be loud as crap and inexpensive (we're talking about open air here so I don't have the benefit of cabin gain and subs aren't very loud usually in open air). I want something that will last a long time and will wake the neighbors if I want to. I also need an amp. I am looking at THIS amp (Directed Electronics 1100D): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW
Is this a good amp (I know it's a refurb but that is a cheap price and I heard there is nothing wrong with refurbished amps.)? I have been using only one huge deep cycle 12V batt. to power my system on this cart so I need an amp with great efficiency and low current draw. I heard that at the lower the ohms you have the subs wired to, the less efficient the amp (although more powerful), so I also need an amp that puts out good power (rms) at 4 ohms and possible 2 ohms. I'm thinking around 400 rms for each sub is plenty. Looks like a good amp for my application right? If that isn't good enough power I can step up to $160 for a 750W rms x 1 @ 4 ohms refurbished Planet Audio, which I know are great amps (I have a Big Bang).

OK, now for the 10" subs... any good subs come to mind that like small sealed boxes (it's a cram on there, approx. 1 cu. ft. each), put out good spl (decent sq), and last a long time and can take some abuse? I have been looking at the Type-R's.... I have a single 15" in car and it hits hard, as does my brother's single 10" in his car.... but I'm not sure that they are as loud as some of the others for the same price. I am also looking at Punch HX2's which I had one of and seemed to be louder than the Type-R, and at Comp VR's which seem pretty popular but I'm not sure if they are any good or not. Besides these, I'm lost, and remember since I buy my crap off Ebay for this ghetto golfcart to keep costs at a MINIMUM, I am limited to mostly the bigger brands such as the one's mentioned. I know people will suggest the ED, RE, DD, and similar brands but those subs are expensive and harder to find. I want to keep the cost below $200 for both subs. So let me know what I should get. Remember, this is not for a car so I don't want to spend that much money. Thanks.

Thanks for replying, those subs look good. Are they really better than type-r's? They are less expensive. Any other ideas? How about that amp? Thanks.

Hell yeah, Type-R's are incredibly overrated. But seriously, a golf cart with subwoofers?:hilarious

Re: Loudest (Inexpensive) 10" Sub (plus amp)

Hey, hey, hey I'll be more than happy to post pics after I get them installed, hehe. Might not look like the cleanest install, but you try to cram subs and an amp on a little golfcart and make it look really good . A golfcart with a system is awesome, you gotta ride with style . Yeah, good suggestion, but that amp doesn't seem powerful enough. I think I'm going to just get the ti10's, that amp I posted, and I'll be good to go. My last subs on this thing btw were american pro's . Oh yeah, is there any reason to get DVC over SVC on those ti10's? I can only find cheap SVCs (4 ohm). I want to wire to 2 ohm anyway for that amp (around 300 rms each probably at 12 V), so the SVCs are fine right? Just making sure the DVCs aren't for some reason better besides wiring flexibility. I don't want to wire to 1 ohm (with DVC 4 ohm ones) because most amps draw a lot more current at 1 ohm than 2 or 4. This is true for this amp too right? Thanks again.

Well guys, thanks for the suggestions, but I've pretty much decided on the Phoenix Gold ti10's.

Haha sounds humorous, subs on a cart. anyways have you thought about the electrical system? Surely you wouldn't have the power to run something half decent
