Some suggestions for a friend..
Hey guys. I haven't posted here in a while, but I've got a few questions regarding a friend of mine. He just got an '07 Mustang and with it came the 'Shaker Audio System' which supposedly puts out more bass than a stock system in a Mustang. However, he'd like to dedicate his doors to his music, and wants to put a sub in his trunk.
He wants to put in something that will match his music well, but isn't "too obnoxious". Now, in my opinion, my SA-15 isn't even obnoxious, so I'm not sure where his bar is set at. However, my main questions lie here:
I was thinking he'd want either a sealed 10, ported 10, or sealed 12. I've never had a smaller system like this, which is the best just for 'keeping up with the music'? I might even just recommend a good 8, but I've just got no idea.
Should he get a 8, 10, or 12?
What will be best for matching a Mustang's stock stereo system, while also being space efficient with the trunk size?
What brands are best for smaller setups like this that won't break his bank? Considering that he doesn't want to go nuts with it, I'm assuming he'll want more SQ than SPL.
Thanks for all and any input everybody.

Pair of sd2 8s in .65 sealed and 600-800w would be my suggestion based on past experiences with sundown

Right, Sundown was one of the first brands I gave him. Of course, like anybody else in this town, he'd never heard of it. They call for .65/per sealed? What do you think of an SA-10 ported vs 2 SA-8s sealed?

They call for .35 each sealed and Jacob recommends the sd2 8 for sealed over the sa8 sealed due to the build design. And 1 sa10 ported is going to walk all over a pair of 8s sealed. One thing to keep in mind is that it's easy to turn bass down where as u cannot always just turn it up.

I have a sealed 12in in the wifeys stang....and its much more than she will ever need. Honestly it hits better on lower power than my Skar 8's at 600w each. Yeah her car is smaller but for what it is, it thumps pretty good. Depending on his music taste thats about all he may need.

I would look at a pair of entry 10s, the new Audio Technix subs look very promising, you can get 2 of the 200rms 10s for 150 shipped if you get them on preorder which lasts till around Nov 10th. They look very promising and are most likely under rated in terms of power handling. A pair on 600-800rms tuned to 30-33hz would be perfect for your friend's needs.
