Is THis A Lateral Move

I currently own a pair of SI Mags 12"s, would getting a pair of SA Zv3s 12"s be a lateral move? as for as output ,Sound quality....ooh and the box is ported of off a 3000 watt amp. ANYBODY got so information?

the zv3's will probably have more output....I hear they sound good as well

But I've heard that the mags are also some really good sounding subs

Yea they should get a good bit louder and sound really good if you put them in the right box. I had my two 12zv2 s in a sealed off trunk wall setup on a 2500d and they sounded really good plus the would shake my Cruze like he'll. I had mine in 4.5cubes net tuned to 32hz and they were just great. From what I hear the zv3 soft parts are much better I wouldnt mind a pair in my new car but I cannot support 3kw rms

think about it...technically,you are not adding any cone area or power to change output +/- enough to be noticed by ear, and if you are completely unsatisfied with the SQ of the Mags, I seriously do not think you will be satisfied with the SQ of the Z's either. Perhaps you should perform box design/tune, and sub/port placement experiments with what you have before dismissing them as incapable of giving you the sound you seek

No I never said I was unsatisfied with the SQ of the Mags,just the oppsite,I love the Sq of the Mags,I just wanted to know if the Zv3s would have similar SQ with more output,I know this the Zs would require a smller tuned box.

this is what I`m looking for in someone who has ran either subs. Did you use aa Aero Port? and what were your outer measurements of your box?

the si mag is a tc9 motored sub which is a great motor. the zv3 is deff a step up! alot more coil, therm and mech powerhandling go up big time. the zv3 is a great daily sub with the mix of sql and spl (daily ground pounder)...

the Mags are in a 5.2 cu.ft enclosure(internal cu.ft=5.2),I`, thinking with the Zv3s and a 6" Aero port , my Internal Dims woould be around 4.00 cu.ft. tuned @ 32 hz.
