Fi sounds like its bottoming out only on high notes
I was listening to my Fi BL directly (head up against it) the other day and it sounds like its almost bottoming out only on high notes. Low notes sound great but its high notes that sound .. almost mechanical. I cant hear it in the car, and if i turn the gain down to where it doesnt make that noise, the sub barely moves.
I spoke to somebody local and their GPI sub does the same thing on high notes. Im trying to contac a person who owned an Fi BL and see ifthis is normal.
But for now, can anybody attest to this?

"Head up against it?" could be hitting your head and making the knocking noise.
Re: Fi sounds like its bottoming out only on high notes
my fosgate subs sound bad on high notes too I think thats any sub under high power I just play a song that has that note that I dis-like and slowly turn down the lpf until it plays smoothly your gain isn't going to fix this if it's playing the lows well.
Re: Fi sounds like its bottoming out only on high notes
If the sub was bottoming out , it would do it on low notes
Under full excursion not in the higher range under less throw.

I cant hear it in the car, only if im next to it with the trunk open and whatnot. From inside i dont care. I just dont want to be blowing the sub, thats my only concern. It sounds great inside the car

To me sounds like something got in the gap, or the coil is on its way out slight unraveling

felt pads fix lead slap...
Re: Fi sounds like its bottoming out only on high notes
Tuning too low also combined with possibly loading on the vehicle to tune even lower can cause excursion issues at higher frequencies. The port reduces excursion most at it's actual tuning (of course) then about 1/3 octave either way.
Say you tuned to 32 Hz -- loading in the car across a nearby surface drops you to 28 Hz -- then your port is only working to reduce excursion up to ~37 Hz or so.

What does tinsel slap sound like? Is it loud? Ive been hearing a 'popping' noise sometimes. I dont think its bottoming out or over exursion cause it will only do it sometimes, never on a specific note (sometimes high, sometimes low) and i still hear bass playing when i hear the slap
Power is clean going to the sub too.
