Alpine Type R Blown Voice Coil

One of my subs is blown (I think bad voice coil). I was wondering what the BEST but also cheapest route to go would be??? I sent a request in to fix my speaker . com. Should I allow them to fix it, or should I go with a new sub altogether?

dont bother fixing just a waste of time to be honest..sell the working one and buy a higher end sub

well run just 1 til it blows or sell it and get 1 12....theres nice subs for under 200 bucks that will be louder than 2 of those type r.s in the right box...what amp are u running?

im running it off a hifonics brutus 1200 watt amp. Right now, the good one is fully hooked up. But I'm realllly new to all this...so I'm kinda clueless.

Yea thats a pretty decent amp man ..ditch the good type r ,,and buy a american bass xfl .. And have someone build you a custom box and it will be louder and sound better than both those type r.s...they r 182 bucks new..amazing for the money

Those less-than-$200 subs you were suggesting? which would those be? The guy who hooked them up for me wants me to get an RE to run in place of the blown one....they pretty much exclusively sell those at their audio shop here.

oh no please dont buy a re...they were good back in the day but the new stuff has gone to ****...american bass xfl are on ebay for 182 free shipping then get someone to build you a nice box

I think that sub is best bang for the buck on the market 1000 rms and can handle well over that,,in the right box they kill..what car u got?

I would not get anything from RE unless it's older stuff. Check out Obsidian Car Audio

dont get me wrong they arent bad they get loud and dont sound bad doin it... Jus not worth fixing is what i was tryin to tell him...and yes 1 xfl would murder those type r.s lol.....but if u can find another type r used go for it...depends on what u want

ok the subs are in a pretty massive ported box (dont know exact measurements, bought it second hand). i have a 05 nissan xterra. i reallllly like the subs, just need to recone or replace the one. im not really looking into getting something different completely. i want something i can go ahead and put into the box i have and run off the amp i have...

well then just try to find a used type r im not sure what a recone would cost for one....if u bought 2 new 12,s what would be your budget?
