What would cause this? Never really found out why not overpowering it does this every time I Olay low 30 Hz and below hate it that's where most music plays
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
first off those r the biggest leads i have seen.
i know what the problem is cause i have seen before. thn you get alot of excursion the leads are moving alot and vibration and alot of current cause it to burn. ca glue needs to be covered with e6000 to dampen the vibration or this is what happens.
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
I've never liked soldering leads under the cone even with a gap. It is asking for trouble, IMO.
If you order re-cones see if they can poke through the cone and solder up there; while of course leaving slack between the last tie down and the cone.
Something like this :

It would totally eliminate the mode of failure you have now.
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
Looks like clipping to me... how are your settings have you set them with dd1?
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
I don't really believe in the dd1 any more to ear it just dosent sound to my liking I turn the gain up to ear or I'm just unsatisfied but I don't clip the hell our of it it was all tuned pretty good when this all happened I'm not a fan of the way the tinsels were glued on to the fine so I'm hoping it all gets sorted out crossfire is in the process of addressing this issue so might have to wait it out usually I smoke woofers not have this happen the coil is fresh as hell still
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
Jake; see ya got a collar between the spider and cone and a db drive wd/t3 tss basket :)
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
Thanks for the input Jacob it a tough situation just gotta hope that fi builds a different recone for them where the tinsels are different and don't attach from the ca glue

easier said then done when dealing with a FI oemd company, what they say is best and if you question it you are on your own. I don't know the guys at crossfire and never dealt with them, but I know FI build the drivers so assuming they would be doing the recone. There was some one asking if this would happen on smd and got flamed for probably 10-20 post.

Yea they are beast *** subs just not happy with the tinsel issue its a hassle my guy at crossfire said he was going to speak to fi about it so hopefully it all gets sorted out can't keep reconing a woofer every week
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?

I see the black ca glue, im talking about the tinted brown leads that are supposed to be sliver like the rest of it?
and what looks like black smolder marks around the spider and voice coil former, just trying to help. OP try a dd1 or o-scope to make sure your not clipping at your current amplifier settings or songs you are listening to. plus there is more than enough lead from the last stitching so it sure wouldnt pull apart, it had to have heated up and separated, only can happen through over powering or clipping. i can tell you with 100% assurance this is not mechanical failure.
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
No this was for sure mechanical failure or just the way fi builds **** I kno a few people having the same issues I just wish the would switch up they way they do the tinsels its just not working out

I completely agree, either overpowering or clipping.. or both.
Re: crossfire xs v2 tinsel lead falling off?
bad place to connedt lead to coil leads. can connect them at the spider if you puddle epoxy but the real way is ontop of the cone
