How to wire two Type Rs to 1 ohm? 2 ohms?

I have two Alpine Type Rs (4 ohm versions) on the way. How can I wire them to a mono amp to run at 1 (preferred) or 2 ohms?

I've been referencing Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Two 4 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers
but I don't know where to position the banana plugs. I've looked at the manual for the Alpine Type R (4 ohms) and it only shows how to wire two subs to a mono amp at 4 ohms.

    Currently in use:
Stock premium audio + stock amp (Monsoon)
    Audiopipe AP-18001D
One Atomic 12" Subwoofer Dual .7ohm (not sure of model, but it weights almost 70 pounds)
Box tuned to 33Hz with external PVC port

If the subs are dual 4 ohm you can wire them both to 2 ohm and run them out parallel to the amp to get a one ohm load. The only other option with these subs is wiring them to 8 ohm each and pulling a 4 ohm load from your amp. Running parallel means running the positives together and the negatives together. What amp are you going to be using? Just want to make sure it's 1 ohm stable. Most amps are 2 ohm stable. Here's a link you can use that will tell you how to wire the subs themselves.

So I can set up the banana plugs for 4 ohms and then just plug two sets of wires into the amp (+ / - for each sub)?

What banana plugs are you referring to? Are you talking about the spring terminals for the speaker wire on the sub itself? Its got 2 positives and 2 negative right next to each other right?

I'm referring to where the banana wire spots on the speaker. You can see what I mean here if you don't mind looking at the PDF.

The spring terminals. Ok. So are you going to wire the subs together to one speaker terminal or wire them apart to 2 separate terminals?

My amp does 1200 watts RMS at 1 ohm and on the amp there are two terminals (2 +, 2 -).

If its a mono block amp and it should be. Those two terminals are really one. There are two to make wiring mulitble woofers easier.

It's a 1 channel mono amp but and has output for two subs. All the wiring diagrams I've seen only has one speaker output. Even the wiring diagram that came with the amp is that way.

    edit: just saw this post

I was not aware of that. So just use one set them wire them according to the diagram for 1 ohm?

Okay so there's jumper cables, what do I do with those? I can take pictures if needed.

Re: How to wire two Type Rs to 1 ohm? 2 ohms?

You can't do 2 ohms with two dual 4 ohm subs. You can do 1 ohm. You need two jumpers per sub. Run one jumper from black to black and the other jumper from orange to orange. Now just wire one of the two sets of speaker terminals from each sub to your amp.
