    15" type R v.s 15" power HX2

I was looking at buying 1-15" sub and i was leaning for the power hx2 and then i came across the 2002 type r that now has 2 ohm .they alpine sub is alot more affordable but is it a better or more durable sub for spl comps?Let me know what you think about tha two subs.I'm shooting for 145-150 db's.

Go with the Power Hx2- But it needs alot of power, but it will hit very hard. I always thought alpine were more SQ subs, but thats my opion

go with the rockford, but pump it full 'o watts....
Hook it up to the bd1000.1 and let er rip... that RF is rated for like 1000 RMS, but remember, THE INSTALL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.
Make sure everything is clean, throw that sub into a nice biiiiiiig ported box or even an ABC box, i ahve heard great things about those in some applications and get some ear protection lol.
jsut remember there are people with walls of 12's still trying to hit that magical 150 dB mark!!

the rockford will hit much harder. I read a thread someone posted on here under 'glass breaking stories' and i forgot who, but they said that they saw 2-12'' rockford powers shatter the back window...so i would take the rockford over the alpine

    hmm

The rockford is a nice sub but i herd that they are not built well is that true and the alpine type r 15" is alot cheaper in price about half the price of the power hx2.

I don't believe the alpine's can withstand the abuse. If you are serious into SPL, go for the powers. They are just really power hungry. Give at least 1000w a piece if not more. For a while I was running two power 15's. I powered them with two bd1500's each

What kind of SPL numbers were you getting from that setup?

    yo

15" type r 2ohm DVC is rated for 500 rms.I can either give it 600rms or 1000 rms what would you recomend.Just for burps at comps it could handle 1000 rms right? And 600 rms for everyday enjoyment.

The highest from that setup was 159.8 legal on the dash. I switched to 2 dd9515's at the beginning of this year. Metered them once at a local comp at 161.1 legal on the dash with the same enclosure as the RF. I really didn't get a chance to do much tweaking before the old lady destroyed my truck

Did you recover most of your losses from the wreck, system expense and all?

Not for the system. But there was enough of a difference in the price that I paid for the truck, and what the insurance company reimbursed me to make up the difference for the parts of the system that were destroyed. But no amount of money could pay for the time and effort I put into making that truck what it was.
