Good 12" sub around 1000W for small sealed box??

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 that I have a center console box for. The box is down-firing, sealed, and is 0.95 cuft. It will fit a single 12" sub with a mounting depth of 7" or less.

That is all the room I can spare, so this is the only box option I have.

I listen to a lot of rap/hip-hop music, so I want it to be pretty loud, but I do not want to sacrifice a lot of SQ.

Money is not a huge issue, but I would like to stay under $350 for the sub. I am looking at a Sundown SAX-1200D for the amp, but I am open to any options/opinions.

    Thanks!

The standard answer is to try Dayton Reference HO. It's strictly SQ subwoofer. For 12 inch, there is SVC 4ohm version, and DVC 4ohm version. They work well in small sealed or small ported box, but they have very low efficiency in sealed setup. RMS power handling is something like 700-600watts and you probably need an amp rated at least that much.

idk about it going in a small sealed box but look at the ssa icon. 1000 wrms and is way under the 350 budget.

Re: Good 12" sub around 1000W for small sealed box??

If you can change the shape of the cutout on the box, look into the Boston Acoustics SPG555. Its an oval shaped sub, with the same cone area as a 12, has a neodyium magnet for lightweight, handles over 1krms, has replacement voice coils and soft parts so if you blow it up, you can repair it yourself. Retail is about $350 and it will keep up with a JL w7 in terms of sq and loudness. Not a lot of people know about them. Best part is you can run it in 1cu/ft sealed or you can run it in a ported box. Even with a small sealed 1 cube box, it will still do around 140db on music in most vehicles.

Re: Good 12" sub around 1000W for small sealed box??

I definately want it to hit the lows pretty good, but I understand that I can't have it all with my limitations on space.

I was looking along the lines of an FiQ or something similar. The guys at Fi seem to think that the Q will work OK in that box, it just seems small for that sub to me after you factor in the subs displacement.

What do you guys think about the Fi Q or IDQ? Those were my two original choices, but I know there are a lot of other options. At this point, I am open to whatever.

Any other subs I should research?

The Q is an excellent option, you could always try adding some acoustastuff or polyfill.

That is what Fi recommended with the polyfill, the Q is the sub I have been looking at since day one. Honestly, I just wanted to see what else was out there that I should research before buying.

    Thanks!

How strong is that box 1200 watts all sealed up may cause some leaks? Also that's a small box for a 12 a 10 or 8 may have a bit more fun.

never heard any ssa subs. i'd try them.
I was thinking of doing a similar design enter console box .I may have to try it.

Re: Good 12" sub around 1000W for small sealed box??

Will 12 inch IDQ fit in your enclosure? You could try it. Modeling software recommends a sealed box of around 1.1cu ft and this is what most sealed IDQ users have, but you could try it in your enclosure, with an appropriate amount of polyfill (up to 1.5 pounds for each cu ft, net of sub air displacement). This increases effective box volume up to 25-30%, so your effective box size would be approximately 0.8*1.3. Having said that, Daytons RS/HO line has been reported to work well in small sealed or ported boxes, but they need a lot of power to move.
