Is it a good idea to make my entire trunk it's own enclosure? [PIC]

I have a mitsubishi galant that has a fold down seat with a 15"+ hole. Would it be a good idea to turn my entire trunk into it's own enclosure? How would that sound with a 15" Image Dynamics with some 1000+w setup? Good idea? Bad? Should I just get a box?

it really depends on how well you seal off the trunk from the cabin. and also the vehicle. some IB setups sound really good. some just sound terrible. I've seen one 15 IB out do 8 10's IB on double the power the 15 was running.

should be ok, but im going to go out on a limb and say that thats going to be to much power but then again idk much about ib. i do know that if the trunk is sealed of from the cabin very well and your amp is set correctly, that going ib will net u very good results in the low frequency range. lp and ss filters are a must to keep the speaker tamed and in control.

Thank's for the input, I would definitely attempt to seal that ****... I have a feeling that I won't be dissapointed. Also, how much should I look to spend on a single 15" + Amp? And what wattage range? I'd like to keep it under $500.

lots of subs and amp combos under 500. i like the re sx's for a mid grade sub myself. not alot of re fans on here. fi bl..

well personally id look for an older image dynamic's 15 with around a 500w amp. you should be with in your budget with just about any gear. lets say you get a new sundown 125.2 from soundsolutionsaudio.com that will give you 400+ watts at 4ohm anf only cost you a little over 250 shipped to you new which leave you around 220 for the sub which if you look around the classified you can find a few subs that will do what you need or you can go to fi car audios website and look into their ib3 15. both of these should land you around your price range new and below your price ranged used
