How to: Install a drop in recone assembly

Mods please sticky this for everyone's reference. Ive seen threads on this before but not well.

I hope this is more helpful to the CA community. Ive had quite a few requests for drop in's lately and along with it, the proper way to install them.

thanks guys. put this up to give people a true technical means of learning how to recone, using a drop in. Not some goofball **** with dumb pictures. and btw, NEVER glue both landings and set both at the same time!!! your asking for problems if you do that.

Why not? The way I see it, as long as you have your shims in and you put pressure on the top of the cone and clamps on the surround everything should be good.

Because unless the maker of the recone has the spider/s and cone EXACTLY centered, you will have have coil rock at moderate to high excursion. If you set the spiders first, then the cone will fall into its correct place when glued separate.
Its extremely hard to have both exactly centered. Their's 2 separate entities there. Threat them as separate and you reduce the possibility of issues.

This. If i've purchased a prefab recone, then the shit better be straight to begin with. That's sort of the point of buying a premade one.

Everyones entitled to do as they wish. I prefer not to glue the whole thing at one time. I have yet to see a recone thats "off" so to say, but i prefer to be better safe then sorry when im paying 80-150 a recone.
