300 wats rms enough for alpine typ r?

hey guys.. i just bought 2 alpine type r subs (4ohm dvc 300watts rms) and i need to know if a jbl 600.1 will be enough to power them. It puts out 600 watts rms in brigded 4ohm so that will be giving them 300 watts each. If ne body out there has these subs and knows if that will be enough then help me out ight? Thanx alot

Well first, it doesn't put out 600 watts at 4 ohms, its 300. You need to wire them to 1 ohm to get the right power, 600 watts. But yes its enough for them there is nothing wrong with underpowering subs as long as you don't try and make up for it with the gain. Also those amps are underrated about 50 watts or so.

my bad its a 600.2 not a 600.1... and its 600 at 4ohms brigded. but u think this would be underpowering them?

there rated at 300w rms, but ppl on this board claim that they push 450-500w to each sub and have been doing it for months at a time, if it was me id prob push 300-400 to them

No it would not be underpowering them. You are sending them over the RMS, just not quite as much as somone else. Usually the extra wattage doesn't even do that much, subs usually are most effeicient around their rms.
