Icon32 GIve me advice on this bargain

    Hey everyone

this is my first time posting here

im pretty new to having a system in my car, and recently im pretty sure i blew out my old subwoofer. it was an alpine ZR 10, it was nice for being just one 10. my amp is a BOSS amp, and im sorry to say i dont know the specs on it so hopefully someone can still help me. anyway im at circuit city today and i see a deal that says buy one get one free on a Polk Audio GNX10. its like 80 bucks for one 10 and i get another one free, that looks like a great deal to me. i would need to buy a box for two tens which is another 50 bucks but still i seem to get a great deal. my questions are:

    1. is this subwoofer worth it?? are they reliable and long lasting or should i look at something else

    2. my amp, originally it was just pushing my one 10, and it was fine that way, but will it be capable of pushing two 10's? i know its a hard question to answer seeing how i dont know anything about it, but hopefully somebody with alot of knowledge could just safely guess on this matter.

thanks alot and sorry for my lack of knowledge in this area.

try this site here it should answer your questions about GNX's

also if 1 sub had enough power from your amp it stands to reason that two subs will receive half the power the single sub did so most likely the subs will be underpowered but not having enough power wont hurt the subs

your kinda true kingpin_jeffie. it depends on if his amp puts out more power at a lower ohm load which is what 2 subs would definetly do. so if his amp puts out more watts at a lower ohm load it would pound even more than it did.

flesh, i don't mean to hate, but you need to learn some stuff. If you bought that amp of a kid in your school, who claims it can do something...you need to research it and find out. Just look stuff up, and research and take in a lot of knowlege because car audio is something you don't wanna waste your money on...it's expensive.

i mean come on, you say you want to learn, but you haven't even looked at the amp yet!
how badly you want to learn severly affects how much you learn

i hate that people jump into **** like car audio without knowing what the hell their have or anything. my friend is like that and he can install but can't tune an amp worth **** or tune his EQ or anything. if your gonna have a system KNOW YOUR ****!! and not just your stuff but learn about other brands and what other people have and all that. i have only had a system for 10 months and i'm not even 18 yet but i know my stuf when it comes to car audio. i am building a sweet set-up i will get some pics for all you people's out there as soon as it's built. by the way i'm not trying to hate on anyone just my personal experiences.

    keep it thumpin,
    adam

also adding a second woofer adds 3 db because you are doubling the cone area aka displacement...just like doubling your power...wow what a concept lol
