You'll have to send it back to JL. Be sure to lube up your ******* first.

No speaker, in the history of speakers, has ever been blown by too little power. Ever. I don't care what your friend told you, he's a dirty liar.

The problem is the JL surround is proprietary. As Im sure you've noticed, its not the standard surround style found on other speakers. JL has it patented.

Unless you find someone with a spare JL recone kit they want to sell, yes so far as I know JL Audio is your only choice for reconing what you have.

Someone here recently posted pics of a JL sub (dont remember if it was a w6 or w7) that only reused the motor, and had a standard 12-spoke frame, which opened up a lot of options for softpart choices. This would be a more extensive rebuild however.

sorry but its a paper weight. the motor is noting special and by the time you spend money on getting it fixed you could have had a better sub.

next time when buying a sub get something with a standard 2.5 or 3" coil so it can be rebuilt fairly cheap. or buy from companys such as sundown,dc,ia,dd that can send you a recone kit for around $100...

I'd be interested in buying the motor to see if any of the 12billion parts I have fit... lol.. if you want to .. PM.. and we can see what it would cost to ship that paperweight

Not only that, but the voice coils are goofy sizes.. IIRC the W6v2 has a 2.7" coil, and no one makes those except for JL...

The only newer JL sub that can be reconed readilly using a standard basket is the 12W7, as far as I know...
