    Icon32 A $500 Question!

    Hey all,

I am a newbie to car audio and im looking for a decent sub-amp setup for $500 or less. I would like 2 12" subs or maybe 1 15" - ive looked at the vega 124 and it appears they have pretty good bang for its buck ratio. For the amp im not sure, something decent obviously that could definately handle the load - ive looked at Power Acoustik and they seem decent as well. NEED HELP! ):confused

When it comes to SQ and SPL, for this price range anyway it seems like a compromise. Therefore I would like decent SQ but more of an emphasis on SPL. (rhetorical question?)

My head unit is the Alpine CDA 7892 (50x4) (4V sub preouts & 3 preouts)

Any combinations and setups on how I could get the most bang for my buck would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    thx guys,

    Z

i would try one fosgate hx2 12 inch for about 150 to 250$ and a jbl mono block bd.300 for about 150 to 200$ that should be a cool start up system

If I were you, I'd defently spend more on the amp then the sub. A sub is a lot cheaper to upgrade than an amp, so if you get a decent wattage quality amp chances are it will keep you happy in the future.
I'm looking to upgrade my amps right now, but that's what you get when you only spend $350 on two amps.....

    -(1) Clarion 725
    -(2) Diamond M371i
-(1) Diamond MacDaddy 12" UNIQUE (long throw) in a ported box
    -(1) 400w 4ch Crunch Drive Bridged
    -(1) 600w 2ch Crunch Drive Bridged

That vega sub is ok If I were you I would yes spend more on the amp like a JBL 1200.1 for 250 on ebay. And a couple of JL audio w3s that would be very nice setup. But if your more into spl maybe a set of fosgate HE2s they have decent sq and alot of spl. Uhh just look around with the extra 250 you could get a nice set of subs but I would get that amp.

From personal experience I think you would be happy with 2 12w3's and a JBL 1200.1. These subs are loud, have a nice hit to them, sound pretty darn good, and they are the right price about 150 each.

    2 12w3 ($150)
    1200.1 ($250)
wires, and misc ($50) <-- safe estimate

about 600 total and you would be happy as hell.
