Are components with the driver in the door and the tweet in the dash still better than just a coax in the door? I just don't want to have really bad imaging problems, although I won't be competing.

depeands on your taste i personaly like to seperate the tweets and mids it gives you more flexabilaty

You can play with tweeter location before you are commited to one area..but comps..the quality and clarity are most often better.
