If the sub is blown, it would be giving off sound...not very good sound, but sound none the less. I would check all you connections and make sure your amp is getting power. another thing to check would be (if you have the amp bridged) make sure you don't have it hooked up backwards.
Let me know if this works!

i am getting all kinds of stuff built for my "real" system. i just had these to tide me over. i had them both running at 4 ohms on a memphis 1000 so they would not get too much power because their continuous and max is very low. i checked and double checked the channel it was on and only one is playing but i figured taht if i blew one the other one(same speakers) would have blown. im confused.

Where did you get the memphis amp? there is a chance that possibly the channel on the amp is blown...this can sometimes be caused by a possitive and negative that are hooked up to the amp touching...either that or something came unhooked at the terminals inside the amp, the only thing you can do right now is just keep rechecking connections and hope ya don't got a blown channel
    Keep it loud!

I suppose there's also a chance of something wrong with the sub, so Id switch subs and see if the other gets power from that channel
    Hope this helps!
