    Opinions on Alpine Type-R Woofers?

Anyone that has Alpine Type-R subs, how good are they? I am thinking of buying 2 12's of them. Do they hit hard?

There ok, there more of a SQ sub. If you want it to hit hard, theres better for the price. People seem to like the kicker VR's.

Very solid subs if you ask me.

Just on my subs, I plan to spend no more than $200-$250 on them total.

My friend has a pair and they aren't bad at all..the only thing I would like is more power handling from them.

Cheap stamped steel baskets, cheap lead wires, cheap fat foam surround, made in Woo muk tang. No, they don't bump, but they do blow. Stick to Alpine for head unit and coax speakers.

Re: Opinions on Alpine Type-R Woofers?

I have 2 Type R 12's. I have been giving them 1200 WRMS, so 600 each and they love it. Or is it just me that loves it? LOL. Anyways, I have heard that other subs pound harder, but just so you know, my loudest system was 3 JL 12WO's in a sealed box at 144.2 with 330 RMS.

I now have 2 Alpine Type R 12's in a ported box with 1200 RMS and I'd say it is much much louder. I'd guess minimum 147.

Just so everone knows, I had the 3 JL's metered about 2 years ago, so I'm compairing my Type R's to the 2 year old meter.

    Thanks

Re: Opinions on Alpine Type-R Woofers?

My friend and I are building a system for my Cousin (my Friends G/F) in her explorer... It will have 4 12" Alpine Type Rs... I think he got them for 150 ea...

We are going to put them in a sealed enclosure of 1.5cu^ ea and power will be by two old School Hifonics Boltars... 2 Subs on each amp... I'm guessin each sub will get about 300-350watts

We are about 80 % done and should have been done a few days ago, but with my work, his work and the Holidays we have had ish for time...

I'll post some pics when we get it all in...

I'm supposed to go over there and help with the wiring tommorow...
