Actually, the new W6's are dual 4-ohm drivers. The 10W7 and the 12W7 are single 3-ohm drivers.
the W6AE is dual 6 ohmOriginally Posted by slvraccrd02

The NEW W6's (W6v2) are D4. The original W6's (the AE is the same sub with some cosmetic changes) were D6. The originals are due to be discontinued this year. Glad I've already got 6 10's.

So is there any actual difference you can hear? Does one sound cleaner or get louder? How do they compare to the w7's? Are they THAT far behind in SPL and SQ or no?
yea, the dub 7 is in a whole different leauge.Originally Posted by sixers229

the new w6v2 are more of a sound quality sub, but they hold there own when it is time to get down. not like the w7 though cant compare. the ae w6 is nice speaker too and is more for just beating the block down. so it just depends on what you want.

This is a SQ sub like basically all of the JL subs. It had huge excursion for its day (.5" one way) but it's still a SQ sub. Really efficient and sound great.Originally Posted by antste384

Actually, JL used many of the technologies that they designed for the W7 in creating the W6v2. Sound quality wise, the W7 and the W6v2 should sound similar. The differences quickly appear as you apply more power. The W7 would welcome the increased power and sound great, whereas the W6v2 is really suited for applications 500 watts and below.
The v2 is a superior woofer. More displacement and the motor and suspension linearity of the W7, just with less displacement and powerhandling.
Definitely a much better all around driver than the w6, but certainly more expensive as well. Price being no object, I'd go W6V2.
