    uhhh, what happened?

so i hop into my car start driving and turn on some music and notice there is no bass so i turn it up to see if my chords got disconnected or something and i hear some bass. I look towards the back of the car(in a prelude, the back seat folds down and the sub fires in) and i notice my 15xxx is no longer screwed into the box... i stop the car and look at it and the screws are still in the holes on the sub and they got ripped out somehow. it was in with 6 screw and none of them were stripped, wtf happened

before you put the screws in did u pre-drill the holes.. if so the diameter of the screws must have been too small....

    Re: uhhh, what happened?

The holes MAY have been stripped because we have used the same holes(which we shouldnt have) a few times now. Thats the only thing I can think of really...

The screws were normal gold plated wood screws 2" x 1/4" I believe...I've never had this problem though...

    Re: uhhh, what happened?

Heavy drivers need more than just wood screws. Spend the time and $5 to use T-Nuts. They won't pull out, and can be reseated thousands of times without compromise.

And use all 8 mounting holes - all 8 are there for a reason.

    Re: uhhh, what happened?

good wood screws are beasts and u shouldn't have any problems if u use all the wholes.... but like marley said, you should probably makes new holes after taking the sub out a few times

    Re: uhhh, what happened?

it only has 6 because if i put a screw in the top and bottom holes it will split the wood =\

Never reuse your screw holes, especially with a 60 pound driver than can generate over 100 lbs of force (which that motor can do). If the screws tore out - like the original post says - that's the problem. Wood screws are not suitable for large, high excursion, heavy drivers.
