One 4 ohm 10" sub vs two 8 ohm 10s
Right now I'm running one 8 ohm 10" sub because my other one blew. It does OK, but it lacks the gut wrenching lows I used to get when I was running both subs. Because I'm running my amp into an 8 ohm load (as opposed to before when I was running both subs in parallel giving my amp a 4 ohm load it pushed 500 wrms to the subs), it's now only pushing 250 wrms to the single sub. I'm wondering if I'd be better off going with a single 4 ohm sub capable of handling 500 wrms, or should I go with two subs (that I can wire into a 4 ohm load) capable of handling 250 wrms?

The amp is an Alpine MRV-545 and the one 8 ohm sub I'm using now is a Sundown SD-1v1. I guess if I were to go with two 10s I'd be looking at the ID Tidals. I haven't really looked at any 10s that would handle 500 wrms yet so I don't really what I'd go with there. I realize there'd be twice the cone area with two subs vs using one, but that is based on if both subs have the same amount of xmax.
