    Bass level drop -_-

Alright, so when I am listening to say, a bass test, it is real loud. Then when the melody comes on, not the bass melody, just everything else, the bass quiets. Not by Sooooooooo much, and its not alot, just a tiny bit, but it doesn't matter, it is still doing it. I do know it is not a voltage drop, I have an aftermarket battery and a new alternator, and I dont use caps, oh, and when I am showing off, I usually just rev the engine a tiny bit. But it still kinda drops the bass when the melody comes. Is this just the way the song is maybe?

i dont think it is getting quieter... i think once the highs come into even the bass out it just makes it sound not as loud

Maybe it's not that the bass is dropping, but the music makes it seem quieter. Bass by itself will seem a lot louder than it actually is. When you have music accompanying it, it seems to quiet it down a little. I noticed this in my car and then tried it on my home theater with all the speakers playing or just the sub. I got the same effect on my Klipsch setup as I did with my car stereo.

It's your ears not your bass.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, just wanted a confirmation I guess. :P

Thanks for the whole explanation! I do need a bigger amp for my subwoofer anyways, saving up for an RE us amps amp. Just don't have the money at the moment. just pisses me off because clipping kills subs so I always have to be super carefull. Well, my setup is new and this is my first REAL setup so I just need to get it settled in.

ACTUALLY, I just remembered. So for everyone that says that, your actually wrong but its okay. Here is the reason I notice: When the higher non-bass melody comes on, the excursion of the subwoofer decreases, and my amp is underpowered, and when the music is on it is fine, but when the melody stops, then it begins clipping because it cant handle all the power, and I make sure it doesn't clip cause the square sound waves are bad for the voice coil and all. So it does raise. Oh, and for people that say its a voltage drop, I also tired it in my room once, and it does the same.
