Re: JL Audio vs. DB Drive

Generally, I'd at least respond to this otherwise unanswerable question with more questions in reply:
    How are you defining "better"?
What is the intended use of the subwoofer?"
What models are you comparing to each other?
What size woofers are you comparing?
What are your other components in your system?
    etc..

However, in this case, it's likely that "JL" will simply be the answer, even with those questions answered... simply my prediction.
But again, you need to consider those things... could you still end up with a JL product that didn't suit your needs?
Of course, if you pick the wrong one, if you don't determine what your needs are up front...

Honestly though (and don't take this as an insult), your very question tends to lend one to guessing that you are somewhat of a newbie... if you haven't got much experience, you haven't got high standards, etc, it's not likely to matter.... in that light, simply choose the one that's cheaper... you are talking about a low-frequency driver, where the human ear is naturally less sensitive to distortions and other response anomolies...
New hobbiests tend to purchase smaller amps, and cheaper speakers tend to have higher efficiencies as well... it would be doubly disappointing, after all, to shell out huge money for a JL 13W7 or something, and end up with disappointing output (despite the sub's high output capabilities), because you had it hooked up to a Profile 150 watt amp or something.
A cheaper sub would actually be more comfortable on that power, and even yield more output.
