Alpine Type R or Rockford Fosgate HX2

What subs are better, Alpine Type R or Fosgte HX2. I'm looking for one 12" in a sealed box, i'm even considering a ported box but am kinda of concerned about how much bigger the box would have to be, i'm trying to keep the size of the box to a minimum. I'm more concerned with SPL then SQ. What amp would you recommend to power one of these subs.

More concerned with SPL??? Take the HX2. It will kick the crap out of the Type R. They aren't even in the same category. HX2 is all SPL and sounds like a wet fart, but a very loud wet fart at that. Type R is a great lower budget SQ/SPL woofer. Not too lound, but still sound quite good. To make the HX2 really at home, a large ported box would be great, 2.5 cubes perhaps.

2.5?maybe like 3-4.type r isnt an spl woofer. "in order to get what you have now i could sell you 3..maybe 4 12 type R's"-guy at CC..so the type R isnt exactly a spl sub for ya.hx2 will get LOUD.the power will.i know the punch's can too.

I don't know why people say the HX2's sound bad? My RF HX2 15" sounds ok, not great, but still ok.
