Best sound quality sub under 400?

Title pretty much says it all, I'm looking to get a new sub, a 12 incher, for under 400. I am doing my best to make my system focussed mainly on sound quality. I currently have:

    Alpine cda 9815
Diamond hex 4" components in front (powered by rockford 201s)
Diamond M3 6x9s in the rear

The sub would probably be pushed by a kenwood 1000w mono block, until I can get money for a better one at least.

I would like the sub to definitely have bass, but again more focussed on quality. Thank you!

    Mike

a 12" XXX would be pretty good as well. Would get crazy loud and have great quality wether u wana seal it or port it. If not that then D2 would be a great choice as well. www.respl.com XXX's need about 1200+ watts and cost roughly 400 shipped. Probably less for the 12"

    Upcoming SQ competition ready install...
    -Eclipse cd8053
    -Image Dynamics Cd1Pro MH
-Image Dynamics 6.5" mids with CX motors and poly cone in custom fiberglass kick panels
-12" Stereo Integrity Magnum in large sealed fiberglass wheel well enclosure.
-Viper d1200.1 (sub), Viper 400.2 (mids), David Navone Amp-100 (horns)

I wouldn't go with 6x9s if I were you, they tend to sound really bad at higher volumes, so if this is going to be SQ, dump them. Also get some comps up front, you need a proper front end(stage) to make things sound great, but back to the sub, I think an eD A, IDMAX or B12 will suit your needs as well as the other subs posted.

    This years line up.....

This man is on it. It is the highest SQ I've heard to date, and has the ability to take #$%$loads of power if necessary, and loves small boxes. You've found your woofer if thats what you're looking for.

Or heck man... why not a Diamond audio TDX? You have a whole lineup of diamond equipment, why not accent it with their finest subwoofer? Even the M6 could be considered, it's a fine woofer too...

That's what I was thinking. Depending on where you're buying, I'd consider the CM3 or whatever its called. Those are some really nice entry level subs. A pair of those ported would get stupid loud and sound **** good.
