Some opinions from you guys would be great :)

    Hey guys.

As my sig. says, 2 W7's with a 1000/1 monoblock. The W7's are good, don't get me wrong, but them seem to be over-rated than what i expected. Maybe it's all in the install? But anyhow, which subs would be a big jump from the W7's? I doubt i'll be looking for new subs just yet, but i want to get a good idea for maybe either sticking with these and going with a slot-ported box or just selling these subs off and going to something a little more underground. As usual, any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Luzah

There aren't currently any subs that are a big jump up from W7's......

I'd port the box and give em more power, man.

1000/1 can run a w7 fine. Two off the 1000/1 isnt much power.

yeah, i'd def. also recommend this. There aren't really any subs out there that are "a BIG jump up" from the W7...it is an amazing sub...there are plenty out there that are comparable and exceed in some areas more than the w7. I'd say...port them at about 30hz...and give them least 1000 watts a piece. You'll notice a big difference...and also...if you do decide to go with 1000 watts a piece...make sure ur electrical system is stable enough. peace

There has to be something wrong with ur install.

Make sure ur running 0 gauge power/ground wire. Make urself a Big ported box tuned to 30hz or so. Feed both the W7's 1000/1's and make sure u have a decent alternator to handle it and a redtop and/or yellow top battery. After that i dont see how u could complain about the setup

Re: Re: Some opinions from you guys would be great :)

4g power wire will be just fine. If you're only running the one amp and no other accessories, 8g would suit you.

Those subs don't need any more than 500w each to be crazy loud if the install is done right. Why spend a grand on another amp and electrical system upgrades when a decent ported box will make it twice as loud?

One more thing....Those subs are very picky about the box they're in. Ask around to other people that have them and see what kind of boxes they're using. I'd suggest something, but I haven't played with too many w7's.

It's all in the box, my friend. It's all in the box.

no, ur ground has to be as big as the power wire or bigger.

dude no offense or nothing but u pretty much the best subwoofers in ur car. i don't know of too many subs that can pump out the power and sq like those.

what kinda box u using right now? i recommend a ported box tuned low to about 28 to 30. that will make a huge improvement from ur current install if ur using what i think u r.

Re: Some opinions from you guys would be great :)

Thanks for the input guys. GREATLY appreciated. As far as what kind of box i'm using, it's sealed. Built by the same people my friend bought the W7's from. A local shop known for their kick-*** custom builds/installs. And as far as comparing them to other people around me.... most of the people in my city are all about Kicker. The L7's are the common around here, and aside from my 12" W7's...there's only one other person who has anything close to it and that is the 13"s....but he also is running ALOT more crap in his than i am. I would have to say the person with the best system so far in my city is guy with an Escalade and 3 18" Solo-X's....but i'm not too sure what he does for a living ;X But that5's why i was thinking about going slot-ported. Even JL recommended slots on their website...and that's what i've been reading on here...."slot ported"....so i'm THINKING about doing a VT Box....any suggestions for that one???
