    NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

I went to my local audio shop today and spoke with the guy, gave him the basic run down of what i was looking for and he sold me 2 mtx terminator 12" subs in enclosed box. the amp that he gave me was an mtx thunder x702. I hooked up the subs and i feel as if the subs are very underpowered(they dont hit very hard).

these are the specs for the amp. http://cgi.ebay.com/MTX-X-Thunder-70...d=p3286.c0.m14

these are the specs for the subs

Power Handling : 200 Watts RMS / 600 Watts MAX Power (Per Subwoofer)
Power Handling : 400 Watts RMS / 1200 Watts MAX Power (Combined)
    Dimensions : 14"(H) x 29-1/2"(W) x 13-1/2"(BD) x 11"(TD)
    Approximate Weight : 66.4 LBS

do you guys think i should get anothre amplifier, if so which amplifier is ideal for that box?

    so this amp
    http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...hunder702X.cfm

with which subs? are they 4 ohms or 8? i'm thinkin 8 and he's wanting you to bridge the amp and wire the sub in parallel giving the amp a 4 ohm load.

Re: NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

ya so it's a "prefab" mtx box and each sub is 8 ohms so bridge the amp and if to you that's not loud enough then you're gonna have to spend more money then you did the first time.

Re: NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

if the subs are 4 ohms each then no do NOT BRIDGE the amp to it as it can't handle a 2 ohm load.. if the subs are only 4 ohms each i'd suggest getting a bigger amp.

Re: NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

im not looking for insane glass shattering bass, but im looking for a nice deep bass that will sound good with my music for a decent price. the reviews that i am reading for the subs are pretty good and people seem to be happy with this set up. could it be possible that i hooked up the subs wrong? i connected the + and - from 1 channel to the positive and negative for one sub, and the same for channel 2. the subwoofers are single 4 ohm voice coil.

Re: NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

you seemed to have them connected right are you sure you don't have one of the wires switched on accident? just to make sure switch the wires on one side amp put the neg from sub on the pos for amp and so on but just on one sub. leave the other the way it is.

Re: NEED HELP! mtx terminator subs

you have a 70 x 2 amp pushin subwoofers LOL!!!

Get an amp that does 600-1k at 2 ohms and sell that amp as fast as possible or take it back, its worthless for subwoofer use- look at the classifieeds here for deals.
