I have about 2200 watts and Im looking to get loud. What experience, if any, do you have with these subs?
DC Level 4xl
Sundown Nightshade
RD Alpha v.2

I'd say the nightshade is in a different class above those other two.

I don’t think you would be disappointed with any of those choices. If it were me I would be stuck between the Nightshade Level 4 xl..
2011 Street A National Champion
Incriminator Audio Dealer
CA Sundown Audio Dealer
any of the 3. all very solid subs
2010 American Record Holder 1st place Stock pro 1 158.0 DB
dbDrag Street C - 2008 Florida State Champ - 152.1
IASCA ProStock 2 - 2008 Florida State Champ - 153.1
2008 SpringBreak Nats - 2nd Place Advanced NoWall - 155.9
I also think they will all be pretty much on par, but this forum has been steering away from RD lately due to some shady business practices (as you may have seen in other threads lately).
Both Rusty and Jacob are good guys, and they reply to emails very quickly and have great customer support. Guess it depends on what kinda dustcap you want?
Haha, they will both fit the application though. But I voted for sundown, because I personally wouldn't like to deal with the questions from people asking if my speakers were made from a sneaker / clothing company.![]()

I HAVENT TESTED THE NEW XL, just the level 4, sorry i misread your title and didnt know they had it out
the sundown is underrated, the other two won't exactly be happy with much more than 1500 watts.
Ive owned and tested all 3 subs
the nightshade handed alot more power. the nightshade also costs quite a bit more doesnt it?
The RD alpha's are nice subs, I loved mine, but you will never be able to sell them for anything close to what you paid. I had a pair of the alpha v2 12s and they were sick subs, but when i went to resell them I lost my butt.
the level 4 is not a bad driver either, but the sundown sub is more of a spl sub made to be a daily driver. instead of a daily driver sub that can get decently loud.
hopefully this explains my point a little better if not let me know and i'll try and help you out more.
I'm by no means saying the sundown fits your needs better, but it is a class above both those two.

hes talking about the level 4 XL completely different woofer. its more like a lvl5 jr. that would be my choice.
lvl4Xl
alpha
nightshade
in that order
Do you want subs that have proved themselves with numbers and experience
OR
Subs that are fairly new and anyone who has yet to see any numbers....
And Yes I have seen all three as well.
oh crap, i didn't even know there was a XL yet. I retract my previous statements. any details on this bad boy?
What is the difference with the normal and xl?
completely different sub then the reg lvl4.
its basically a smaller version of the lvl5 with 3 spiders-stiff and a flat wind 8 layer coil.
