what sort of volume do you have to work with? If it's a small enclosure, you should try to look for subs that work well with small boxes (ED's one of them).

Many people day that you can still get good SQ with a ported box tuned low. The box will have to be somewhat larger than a sealed box though.

    Bass drive-by's are uncool.

I dont think an XXX or Brahma would be leaning more toward the SQ side, although they are all around subs

I think Infinity subs are excellent SQ drivers - not the loudest on the planet, but very smooth and tight bass.

With the sub that close to you, I think you'd do really well with a Kappa or Perfect - either a 10" or a 12".

Put either one in a 1 to 1.5 cubic foot sealed box, hit the Kappa with about 300 watts or the Perfect with about 400, and you'll be sounding great.

And they don't break the bank either - should around $100 for a Kappa, and around $150 for a Perfect.

www.ikesound.com is always a good resource - and shipping is included on the price of anything, so that rocks.

Crutchfield and SoundDomain *sometimes* have good sales on stuff also, but I'd check ike's first.
