Icon32 Will this hurt my sub?

I bought a new bass cd today and I was wondering will playing the sub at 10Hz hurt it. The FS is 24Hz and I thought that playing under that could hurt it. Is there any truth to this? The Cd I picked up goes from 10Hz-100Hz for a sub tester, its pretty cool to hear. The sine wave kinda hurts your ears though.

Well, if you have a ported box, then no, I wouldn't suggest doing it. If you don't have a SSF, the lower frequencies will cause the sub to rely on it's own suspension, and cause it to bottom out...

Well, if the SSF is set correctly, the amp simply won't transmit the frequencies under the SSF cut off to the sub, so it should be fine.

    Huh

Well when I play the test at like 20Hz the sub moves a lot but there is no clipping or bottoming out so I guess I'm all set. On my way back from bartlesville I thought my sub got friend but turns out the + wire from my amp came out. OH and I hit 500posts. Thanks for the help snova.

Question on that, if you are going to play a test tone of 10hz, but your ssf cuts it off, why even bother playing the note? I mean if you are trying to play that frequency won't the ssf prevent it from doing so, or am I misunderstanding something?

watch out for ripped spiders or maybe even creased cones especially at higher volumes and too much power
