the new assassins are D4, so they'll make a 1ohm final load. Assassins are great subs IMO, and are actually SQ based, but like being ported, and can take 2x rated power.

Re: one 8 on 1500+ watts

2 dual 4's make a final 1 ohm load...will they be able to handle over 750 watts each daily?

if not id be more than willing to take some more SPL and not have to worry about beating on them.

Re: one 8 on 1500+ watts

Just set your gain accordingly. You don't have to use all of that power, and it's actually better to have a good 50% more than you really need instead of cutting it close by matching RMS values.

so what are you saying...go the assassin route....or the DD route....personally ive never heard a SPL oriented woofer...compared to a SQ driver...

my setups have been an 15" type R ported, 18" Fi Q ported, 12" xxx sealed, and a 15" mag ported.

Re: one 8 on 1500+ watts

so let me say again...i would be willing to sacrifice some SQ for SPL...as long as it doesn't sound like shizz

You can go either DD or AA...or SS. It really doesn't matter as all three are solid choices. If you're wanting to tune to 40hz and be loud, DD is the way to go in my opinion. If you want to tune 35hz or lower and are more focused on SQ, the AA or SS would be a better choice.

If I were in the market for 8's, I'd get the AA's. $100 shipped each is a solid price.

Re: one 8 on 1500+ watts

    thanks for the solid reply...

i just want to hear what icpurple has to say on this topic considering he owns relatively the same DD"s im looking at and seems to be tuning them quite low, as per a SQ application.
