DD 9515...how good are they for spl?

I don't know much about the 9515...I never looked into them because of the price, but now I am thinking about getting one and I was just wondering their spl capabilities compared to RE XXX, BA Inhuman, Brahma............. I plan on running about 1500-2000 watts in a 3-4 cube ported box. Good idea, or go with one of the above choices listed?

the DD's are ok for daily use, but with 3-4 cubes..i wouldn't use them. the DD i would consider about even with the RE XXX, Brahma, etc. (in SPL). there is nothing that makes the DD a better woofer than the ones mentioned. they each are used in different applications.

Hello GSteg it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

If you do get a DD....be careful. You'll be in a mess if it blows....

Those things can take quite a lot of power before they blow. I doubt that in a daily driver setup with a 2000 unclipped watts will even begin to hurt them.

SPL monsters...probably not my favourite SPL driver, but I myself settled for a pair after I could not find comparable Shockers for a decent price.

If you want to be loud and hit some competitions...so ahead. No SQ though...just a forewarning.

Yeah I know, but anything can happen, and DD has notriously terrible customer service....

The avitar is H.R. Giger's "Baphomet". He is one of the better known surrealists that came after Dali and his work can been see in the "Alien" movies as well as "Species". If you want to see more of his art then buy the "Necronomicon" which has many other good images and retails for $50 and above.

What sub would you recoment in my application? I want to hit high dB's but I am not all the way hardcore on dB comps. I'm not going to gut my car and build a wall or anything and I am limiting myself to 3-4 cubes (Ported) because I value my trunk space and I don't want over 2000 watts because I don't want a ton of yellow tops or dual alternators or any of that stuff. For my situation......RE XXX, DD 9515, BA Inhuman, or other please give me some input if you think that a different sub would be better for my application.

The most that I've seen a single DD9515 produce was 170.1dB
The most that I've seen a single DD9515 take was 3200w RMS (1600W per coil)

I don't think the 95's are for a daily driver.

    Team Caraudio

    Sony C90, 210 EQ
Seas 27TDF/C, RE XXX 6.5, custom xo (dyn 240GT sitting idle)
    RF 60.2 amp
    eD A15.22
    Soundstream picasso 1400.1D

    Bass drive-by's are uncool.
