Subs causing amp to go into protect?

Is it possible for a sub to send a amp into protect when it is wired correctly?

I would check to see if it is wired pos to pos.. neg to neg. also check the ground wire, if the ground wire is not attached it will go into protect mode. most often it is the ground wire.
