Ok, so I'm thinking about getting a 10" FI Q-series sub (or maybe BL? not sure), and pairing it with a Hifonics 1606D amp. It seems to be a fairly popular combo, and I've heard good things about it (though the Hifonics has mixed reviews...) I have a few questions though - one, should I get the dual 1-ohm and run it at 2 ohms, giving it roughly 1000 watts RMS from the 1606D, or get the dual 2-ohm and run it at 1, giving it ~1400 WRMS (supposedly the amp is a little overrated, so I'm going a little low with the estimated power)? Then, if I put it in a sealed box and give it about .6 cu. ft. of enclosure, how hard is it going to hit, and how loud will it be? I know there are no exact answers to be had, but I listen to a lot of drum and bass, so I want something I can really shake my own windows with - but not necessarily the windows of the cars on the other side of the intersection. Am I going to be satisfied? I'm on a budget, so I'd rather not spend a few hundred bucks to have someone design and build a box for me, but I'm confident that I can handle building a sealed box. Alternatively, how hard would it be to tune and design a ported box? I'm a college engineer, so I can probably figure it out, but I'm not overly confident. Finally, if I did design a ported box, does anyone know what frequency I should tune for? The car is a Subaru STi, if that helps. Thanks in advance.
