    Icon32 strange noise from subs

i have 2 12' subs in a bandpass box and they sound great untell they hit very low notes at high volume. it seems that the noise of the cone moving is louder then the base its saposed to be putting out. I get a simmular problum when it hits the high end bass notes. It sounds like i have a rattle somewhere but it seems to be comen from the subs.
Now iam running these subs with an amp that is alittle powerful for them concidering its a 1000 watt amp and the subs are rated for 250watts max.

thanks for any help or comments

Well, what kind of subs/amps do you have? I don't know if that will really help in solving your problem, but it couldn't hurt. Also, i'd say ditch the bandpass, cause that's the problem with bandpass when it comes to lows. They get loud, but the sound quality drammatically decreases unless the box is built for the subs. I'd say take the subs out of the box and run them free-air on a low amp setting(enough to move them the same inside the box) and see if you can still hear the rattles. Or you could just build a sealed/ported box and try them in there.

Yeah, bandpass enclosures center their outputs to a limited number of frequencies, and maybe the weird sounds start when you hit the Hz that's not in the peak bandwidth or something... of course, if that bandpass is made really, really, really well, then maybe it's something else.

Oh, and 1000w RMS for 250w RMS subs? I think maybe you need to re-calculate the numbers to see if it's alright...

the box was costum built for the subs. I tried turning down the gain and it sounded much better. I think i was hitting xmax on bolth subs. They are bolth duel voice coil subs and i have them hooked up parrallel so that they are bolth running at 4 ohms. But it is true that bandpass only makes it louder and makes sq worse. I have been saving up to get custom fiberglass incloser.
    thanks for your comments

i get that same noise from my XXX 12, with a custom box, the specs are at the bottom of my reply. do i get that noise because my box is tuned to 33hz? and it just can't reproduce some mids and highs that well?

Erm is the verbal expression that most people would use when they're lost for words, and want to come upwith somehting, but can't, sicne the remark was a bit off...
