    Icon32 Free-Air Subs, and Installation

Hi, im planning on purchasing a 2000 Honda Civic Si soon, and i really dont want to sacrifice trunk space of bass, but i dont want to settle for 6 x9's either. After chekcing out my dads infiniti i35 i noticed it had a free air bose sub mounted to the back shelf of the car (you could see the back and the amp from the trunk). Is the bass response worth the trouble and money of installing? if not what sort of pretty cheap set-up could i use, between my dad and I we are good with car stuff, so installation would probably not be too much trouble. thanks
    -jason

Don't give up on the 6x9s to fast. Amped up and a good quality brand can still produce good bass. But If you want to Stick with the sub idea i have seen it done and it sounded OK. Better bass than a pair of 6x9s but nothing bone crushing. I would definitly insulate the trunk and rear deck as much as possible. It should sound just fine.

i say you get a small 8" sub and throw it in a small box. it cant take up to much room.

whys it a last resort? talk to jlaine about some wicked IB setups...
there is nothing wrong with your idea, an infinite baffle or free-air setup can sound pretty good..
you just need the right driver to do it with....
you need something with a really strong suspension and a couple other key points...
    PM jlaine on this forum...
