    "...to create better air-flow"

A local installer told me I should remove my rear deck 6x9's to create better airflow for a sealed sub in the trunk.

    anyone else do this?

will it really make a difference?

no cutting involved just removing the speakers from under their grilles

i can't imagine it being worth it unless your truck's sealed from your cabin real good but it depends on your car

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

depends on the car, but i noticed a fairly big increase in airflow. so iwould do it...and if its no better, then put the speakers back if you want

idk man, when i had my 6x9 on the rear deck with the sub, the pressure made the 6x9's buttom out like CRAZY, so i took them off.... and sound much better.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

I noticed a *small* difference. If you're not going to run rear-fill anyway, I don't see why you wouldn't do it, though.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

I noticed a huge difference when i took out my stock 8" sub out the rear deck. Wouldn't hurt to try it, like mentioned before, u can always just put it back in.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

Yeah, it really can make a difference. It depends though.

I never realized how great it is to have fold-down rear seats until I got my first real system in.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

Yeah, I love it. I usually leave em up though, because it sounds better and doesn't overpower the front stage and all, but I'll fold em down on the highway or when I just want it loud.

After having them, it's a selling point on a car for me now.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

I never fold mine down, mainly because I'm lazy. I also have stuff in the back seat too. That's now my "storage area". My backpack, tennis shoes, pants, etc all go there.

    Re: "...to create better air-flow"

I removed my rear speakers after wrecking the second set with the hp x-over at 220hz. There was too much pressure in the trunk for them. And it seemed to eliminate some of my rattles.

But now the rear windshield/mouldings are causing havoc.
